Bubble glass — glass with air trapped inside during the blowing process, so the light passing through it scatters into small points rather than a flat glow — was a favorite decorative technique through the mid-twentieth century, prized for turning an ordinary bulb into something closer to a lit sculpture.
This lamp builds its whole design around that effect. A hexagonal brass-toned base with stepped edges supports three turned corner posts, each finished with a ball finial, forming an open cage that holds the bubble-glass sphere above the light source. The open frame lets the bubbles catch light from every angle rather than hiding them behind a shade.
