Doris Lindner "Rolling Dachshund" SculptureSigned Cast Resin with Bronze Patina
Delivered free · US duties paid · Insured
Doris Lindner trained at Calderon's Animal School in London, an institution built entirely around drawing and modeling live animals rather than working from photographs or memory — which explains why her dogs collapse into poses no idealized sculpture would attempt. "Rolling Dachshund" catches the dog mid-flop, on its back, paws in the air, ears splayed flat against the ground, the exact unglamorous moment a real dachshund settles into when it's decided the floor is comfortable enough.

Lindner is better known for the porcelain equestrian figures she modeled for Royal Worcester starting in the 1930s, but her earliest work for the company was dogs and small animals, and pieces like this one continued to circulate through smaller manufacturers like Heredities as cast resin finished with a bronze-tone patina rather than fired porcelain — a more affordable way to keep her animal subjects in production. The signature is cast directly into the piece along the dog's side, part of the mold itself rather than added afterward.
One ear carries a small chip, visible where the resin meets its thinnest point — worth knowing going in, and already reflected in how this piece is priced rather than something to discover after purchase. At just 9 cm tall but 26 cm across, it sits low and long, suited to a shelf or desk where its horizontal sprawl has room to read clearly.
It arrives professionally packed and fully insured — we handle the paperwork and worldwide shipping. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
