Double Wall Sconce with Calla Lily Glass Shades, White Striped Glass with Pink Rims, Gilt Metal Arms, 52 cm
Flowers have inspired lighting designers for as long as there have been lamps. Glass, which can be shaped, coloured and made to glow, is the perfect material for the job, and few flowers suit it better than the calla lily. Its single elegant petal curls open like a cup of light, and it has long been a symbol of grace and beauty.
This double wall sconce takes that flower as its theme. A rectangular gilt metal wall plate holds two slender arms that curve out and up in a U-shape. Each arm ends in a gilt cup holding a glass shade shaped like a calla lily, with the flared, curling form that botanists call a spathe. The glass is white, with fine vertical stripes running up into the flower, and the curling rim is edged in soft pink. When lit, the stripes glow and the pink edges catch the light warmly.
The sconce is in good overall condition, as pictured. Like every lamp we sell, it is checked in our workshop before it is sent, so it arrives ready to use. Its size and soft colours make it a graceful feature above a dressing table, in a bedroom or along a hallway.
In short, this is a double wall sconce with calla lily-shaped glass shades in white striped glass with pink rims, on gilt metal arms. It measures 52 cm and is exactly as pictured.
