This lamp is French in style: a baluster form dressed entirely in burgundy leather — a tapering upper spire and a swelling urn body, each sheathed in stitched panels — divided and footed by polished brass-toned mounts, on a round leather-covered base tooled in gilt with a scrolling foliate border. Run a finger down the stem seams — the leather is closed in long vertical seams over the compound curves of the urn, hide-worker's seaming rather than glued wrap, the construction that separates the leather-house lamps from imitations. The base's gilt tooling is the maker's second signature, applied line by line as on a book cover. The lamp is fully rewired through our workshop before dispatch, fitted with the appropriate plug or adapter for your country, and delivered working and ready to use.
