Pair of Vintage 1960s Gilt Metal Owl Table Lamps, Horned Owls Perched on Oak Leaf Branches, Hollywood Regency Bedside Lighting
Two wide-eyed horned owls keep watch from these lamp bases, each perched on a gnarled branch scattered with oak leaves and acorns. Their round eyes are deep and staring, their ear tufts are pricked, and every feather is finely cast, from the soft facial disc to the long, layered wings folded at their sides. Above their heads, a fluted cup holds the socket, so the light seems to rise from the bird itself. The gilt finish has mellowed into a warm, coppery gold with darker tones in the hollows. As a pair, they make a charming, slightly whimsical frame for a bed, a desk or a library shelf, and a lovely nod to the woodland.
Condition: Good Vintage Condition, with a warm, natural patina to the gilt finish and light wear consistent with age, as pictured.
