Vintage Hall Lantern Pendant with Etched Glass Panels, Brass-Tone Metal Frame with Leafy Scrolls and Palmette Crest, Chain and Canopy
In a traditional French house, the vestibule was the first room a visitor entered, the place where coats were taken and first impressions made. It was also often the draughtiest room in the house, so its light needed glass to protect the flame. The vestibule lantern became a small showpiece, decorated to welcome guests from the moment the door opened.
This hall lantern carries on that tradition. Its frame is made of brass-tone metal, with corner posts cast in leafy scrollwork. At the top, a crest shaped like a stylized palmette, with a rosette on each side, rises between curved arms that gather at a hanging loop. A scrolled apron and a small ring finish the base. The glass panels are decorated with sprays of leaves and a central starburst. A starburst is a classic glass-cutting motif, with fine lines radiating from a single point like rays of light. The lantern comes with its chain and a matching embossed ceiling canopy.
The lantern is in good condition, as pictured. Like every lamp we sell, it is checked in our workshop before it is sent, so it arrives ready to install. It makes a welcoming light for an entrance hall, a stairwell or a landing.
In short, this is a vintage hall lantern pendant with etched glass panels in a brass-tone metal frame with leafy scrolls and a palmette crest, complete with its chain and canopy. It is exactly as pictured.
