Stylized bird sculptures — cranes and herons especially — were a favorite subject for mid-century decorative metalwork, prized for the way a long neck and a single raised leg could turn a still object into something caught mid-motion. This vintage sculpture works in exactly that genre.
The crane's body is finished in silver-toned metal, its neck curving upward to an open beak, balanced on one leg atop a round, textured base. Brass accents run through the wing and tail feather detailing, giving the piece a two-tone contrast against the silver body — a look very much in the Art Deco style, even as the piece itself dates to the 1960s.
The sculpture presents in very good vintage condition.
