Italian lighting in the 1960s had a gift for making one good idea into an entire lamp. Here the idea is a sphere of pale blue opaline glass — nothing else competing with it — the kind of reduction the Italian houses of the period turned into an industry. Zonca S.p.A., the lighting manufacturer from Voghera, produced decorative lamps in exactly this spirit: modern materials, clean geometry, and colour doing the talking.

This lamp is Italian, 1960s, by Zonca S.p.A. — the socket carries the maker's marking, Zonca S.p.A., Italy, max 75W: a full sphere of sky-blue opaline glass seated on a low base, rising to a brass-toned urn-form socket cup. Look into the globe where the light catches it — opaline carries its colour inside the glass, palest where it thins at the sphere's crown and gathering to true blue at the curves, the depth that separates the material from tinted or coated glass at a glance. The opaline is intact, without cracks or chips. The lamp is fully rewired through our workshop before dispatch, replacing the old cord, switch, and plug, fitted with the appropriate plug or adapter for your country, and delivered working and ready to use.

The glass is beautifully preserved and the mounts show only light age-consistent wear, as the photographs show. Whoever kept this sphere glowing before you kept it without a scratch to the glass. It suits a bedside table, a dresser, or a shelf that wants one soft blue thing.

The lamp is marked Zonca production in opaline glass, rewired before dispatch. It arrives professionally packed and fully insured — worldwide shipping and US import duties are included. For other destinations, local import taxes and duties may apply and are payable by the recipient. Returns are accepted within 30 days.
