The greyhound running low and stretched, front paw reaching forward, was a favored pose for animalier sculptors working through the Art Deco decades, the breed's long lines suiting the era's taste for streamlined, dynamic form. This pair captures that exact moment mid-stride, each bronze-toned dog set on a small pedestal at the corner of a red marble block, the veined stone running in warm rust and cream tones. Set on a bookshelf or desk, they bring genuine sculptural interest to a practical object, the kind of pair that draws a second look before anyone reaches for the books between them.
Each bookend has an L-shaped red marble base with prominent white veining, mounted with a bronze-finished greyhound figure in a running pose, each dog standing on a small columned pedestal. Both bookends in the pair share the same running pose and finish.
This is offered as a matched pair of bookends.
