Vintage Italian-Style Brass Wall Sconce with Frosted Glass Wings, 30 cm
In the 1970s and 1980s, Italian lighting designers led the world with bold, architectural shapes. They combined polished metal and thick glass in clean geometric forms, creating wall lights that looked like small pieces of sculpture. Their work brought glamour and calm to modern interiors, and it remains much admired today.
This wall sconce is attributed to the 1970s–80s and is in that Italian style. A tall rectangular backplate of mirror-polished brass is framed by two large curved panels of frosted glass, shaped like wings, each held in place by a small brass dome. The polished brass works as a reflector, bouncing the light back through the frosted glass, so the glow is soft and warm. Even when it is switched off, the shine of the brass and the soft white of the glass make a striking pairing on the wall. The thick glass and solid metal give the sconce a reassuring weight of 1.16 kg.
The sconce is in good condition, with a bright shine to the brass and one small chip at a corner of one glass panel. Like every lamp we sell, it is checked in our workshop before it is sent, so it arrives ready to use. It brings a calm, warm light to a living room or bedroom.
In short, this is a vintage wall sconce in mirror-polished brass with two frosted glass wing panels, attributed to the 1970s–80s. It is 30 cm tall and exactly as pictured.
