Vintage Neoclassical Style Fluted Column Table Lamp, Brass-Tone Metal on Round Base, with Black Shade

A slim column rises from a heavy round base, simple and upright like a pillar from a classical building. With a black shade on top, it looks both traditional and modern.

The lamp has a fluted column in patinated metal, set into a brass-tone collar on a stepped round base. A small push switch sits in the base, within easy reach. Making a lamp from a classical column was a favourite idea of neoclassical design. The column, with its long grooves called fluting, suggests strength and calm, and it fits almost any room.

The lamp is in good vintage condition, with light wear to the finish on the base. It reaches us ready for a full rewire in our workshop. Use it well, and it will serve for many more years. It suits a bedside table, a desk or a reading corner.

At a glance: a fluted metal column lamp on a round brass-tone base, with a black fabric shade included.
