Vintage Pair of Brass-Tone Hexagonal Carriage-Style Wall Lanterns with Glass Panels

A lantern on each side of a doorway is one of the oldest ways to welcome someone home. This pair brings that carriage-house look to an entrance, a hallway or a covered porch.

Each lantern has a six-sided glass body framed in brass-toned metal, with a faceted glass base. On top is a vented crown cap with a small finial, and below is a long tapering tube with a twisted pattern. That twisted pattern is called a torsade, from the French word for twist. Craftsmen used it for centuries on table legs, candlesticks and lamp stems, because it catches the light from every side.

The lanterns are in good vintage condition, with one cracked glass pane on each. The old wiring reaches us as found. They have stayed together as a pair and are ready to light another entrance. Mount them either side of a front door, in an entry hall or on a covered porch.

Hexagonal pair: two brass-tone carriage-style lanterns with six-sided glass bodies, vented crowns and twisted tubes, rewired and sold as a pair.
