There is a particular charm to a print like this one — the kind that once hung in studies and drawing rooms as a small window onto grand architecture its owner may never have visited in person. Here, the unmistakable silhouette of Château de Chambord rises above its own reflection in the water, while figures gather at the riverbank in the foreground and a boat draws up onto the grass nearby. Framed in dark wood with a gilt slip and wide cream mount, it has the quiet formality of a piece meant to

Framed in dark wood with a gilt slip and wide cream mount, it has the quiet formality of a piece meant to be looked at slowly, the kind of print that suits a study, a hallway, or a wall of mixed antique prints and paintings.
The print is a hand-colored lithograph titled "Chambord, Vue du Château (Côté du Parc)," captioned as lithographed by Deroy after a view taken from nature. It depicts the château's turreted silhouette beside the river, with strolling figures and a boat with passengers in the foreground. It is presented beneath a wide cream mount with a fine ruled border, set within a dark wood frame with a gilt inner slip. The coloring has the soft, muted palette typical of period hand-tinted lithographs.
