Vintage Bronze-Tone Metal Letter Clip with Fan-Shaped Leaf Lever and Rosette KnobWall or Desk Mount

A fan of curling leaves forms the lever of this heavy letter clip, ending in a small round rosette. Press it down and the jaw lifts to take a stack of letters.

The clip is cast in bronze-tone metal, with a warm, darkened patina and golden highlights. A shield-shaped back plate with a textured centre has a hole at one end for hanging. The spring lever above it is shaped like a fan of curling leaves, with a round rosette knob at the tip. Clips like this were screwed to a desk or hung on a wall beside it. They held bills, receipts and letters waiting for a reply, so the post stayed in one place, and in order.

The clip is in very good vintage condition, with an even patina. It has held many letters over the years, and it's ready for more. Hang it on a study wall, or keep it on a desk for bills, notes or recipes.

Clip summary: a bronze-tone metal letter clip with a fan-shaped leaf lever, a rosette knob and a shield-shaped back plate.
