Vintage Pair of Brass-Tone Oil Lamp Style Wall Sconces with White Glass Shades

These little lights borrow their look from the old oil lamps that once hung on cottage walls and in ships' cabins, but they run on electricity.

Each sconce has a round brass-toned wall plate and a short curved arm holding an open ring on four spokes. In the centre of the ring sits a pierced collar topped with a white glass shade, open at the top and circled by a gold-tone band. On a real oil lamp, that pierced collar is called the gallery. Its holes let air reach the flame from below so it burned steadily, without smoking.

The sconces are in very good vintage condition, and the old wiring reaches us as found. They have been kept together as a pair and are ready for a new home. They suit a kitchen, a country-style hallway, a cabin or a bathroom.

Lamp-style pair: two brass-tone oil lamp style sconces with a spoked ring, a pierced collar and white glass shades, rewired and sold as a pair.
