Vintage Silver-Tone Liqueur SetRectangular Tray with Reeded Border and Six Small Beakers with Laurel Bands

Six little beakers stand in a neat row on a long, narrow tray, each one glowing gold inside. Brought out after dinner, the set holds just enough for a small glass each.

The set has a rectangular tray in silver-tone metal with cut corners, a reeded border and a band of laurel and crossed ribbon. The six small beakers taper slightly toward the base, each with a laurel band below the rim, and their insides have a golden tone. Small cups like these were often gilded inside. Strong drinks and fruit acids can tarnish silver quickly, while gold doesn't react, so a gilt lining kept the inside of the cup bright.

The set is in good vintage condition, with tarnish to the silver-tone finish. It has served many after-dinner drinks, and it's ready for more. Use it for liqueurs, digestifs or espresso shots on a bar cart or sideboard, or the tray alone for small things on a dressing table.
